Yes, Barterland is completely free. Our platform is built as a non-monetized local directory to stimulate neighborhood resilience, promote eco-friendly resource sharing, and build community relationships. No credit cards or transaction fees are ever requested.

We ask all neighbors to commit to our Safety Pledge. You must meet only in safe, public, and well-lit local hubs (such as parks, coffee shops, or libraries) indicated on the village map. Never share your exact apartment number or home address, and never meet in private residential spaces.

You can list any clean, safe, and legal household items (power tools, puzzles, camping gear, books) or offer any friendly service or tutoring (gardening assistance, baking lessons, acoustic guitar coaching, basic coding help). Harassment, dangerous objects, commercial listings, or paid services are strictly banned.

Every time you complete a trade inside the chat window, you earn reputation XP (Experience Points) and level up. After a swap, you can vouch for your neighbor. High vouches and positive swap stats display on your profile, letting neighbors trade with confidence.
